Close But No Cigar
Twitter has become a strong communication and marketing tool for businesses. It’s given brands a way to engage with consumers online. Yet still, up to now, the ways in which brands can engage with consumers via Twitter has been fairly limited due to the simple structure of the social media site.
This however, looks set to change with rumours circulating that Twitter will be rolling our enhanced brand pages as early as February.
Reports circulating in the media claim that according to a Business Insider, the new enhanced twitter pages will allow brands to add additional interactivity to their Twitter accounts. The enhanced pages may even include iFrame support, which would allow "users to play games or shop on a brand's site without actually leaving the Twitter environment."
Speaking about the news that Twitter may be set for new enhancements, Scott Winstanley, Head of Digital for Digital Marketing Agency Parker Sandford said: “If these rumours prove to be correct it would appear that Twitter will enhance its offering. We’ve seen how Facebook has been such a hit with brands, although in many cases the ROI has been immediately visible. It will be interesting to watch whether brands get excited by extensions to twitter, after all it seems that much of Twitters appeal is in its simplicity and users may not be pleased if their pages become cluttered with brand shopping experiences.”
